Employees invited to 'get in gear' for green travel event
The region’s travel planners are looking forward to their first joint event as part of the newly formed Tyneside Travel Partnership. The Cleaner, Greener Travel Event will take place in the Claremont Quadrangle at Newcastle University on 31 October between 10am and 3pm. The event aims to raise awareness of the travel options and health and environmental issues around Tyneside.
Over 30 exhibitors at the event will promote existing travel options to attendees including bus, metro, rail, car sharing, cycling and walking. Representatives from transport providers Nexus, Stagecoach, Arriva and Go North East will all be on hand to offer advice and listen to customer feedback.
Charities Sustrans and Living Streets will also be at the event, offering advice on the best walking and cycling routes to take in the region. Other exhibitors will be providing information and guidance on how residents can reduce their carbon footprints.
A representative from the Tyneside Travel Partnership said: “We are delighted to be launching the partnership with such an exciting event that will celebrate the number of people across the region who already use public transport, as well as provide information to those who want to explore the possibilities of sustainable transport.”
For further information on the Cleaner, Greener, Travel Event or the Tyneside Travel Partnership please contact Sally Herbert, travel plan officer at Newcastle City Council, on 0191 2116032.
