New partnership drives leadership in region
The North East Chamber of Commerce is hoping to drive forward the leadership agenda in the region after signing a partnership to take its own qualification to a wider audience.
NECC’s training division created the Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management earlier this year. The degree is awarded by the University of Teesside and accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
NECC has now become an associate partner in the North East’s Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in Business and Management which opens up its foundation degree qualification to all new and existing students.
Karen Brown, NECC director of training and workforce development, said: “The foundation degree has proved an immensely popular course and has been oversubscribed. Teaming up with the CoVE enables us to take these high level skills to a greater number of people. “In the context of the North East economy, leadership and management skills play a major role in the development of businesses. Companies have identified to NECC in the past that the lack of these skills can stunt business growth.”
The CoVE is a collaboration between Gateshead College, Access Training and ITEC North East. To learn more about the CoVE in Business and Management, visit http://bmcove.gateshead.ac.uk/.
