North East firms take stock of opportunities in Sweden

North East firms are being offered the chance to take stock of the many opportunities to do business in Sweden during a special visit to its capital city Stockholm.

As part of its ongoing programme of market visits, UK Trade & Investment will be organising a market visit to Sweden in March next year to enable companies to find out more about the market and meet potential customers.

John Holmes-Carrington, one of UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Advisers, who will accompany the group, said: “Sweden is a prosperous, open and competitive market and is a key export market for the region’s firms as the UK is the fourth largest exporter to Sweden.

“There are a host of opportunities in a range of sectors including ICT, creative and media, healthcare and life sciences. Sweden is also a major driving force in the advancement of environmental protection issues and there are opportunities too in the environmental technology sector.”

The Sweden Market Visit, 9-13 March 2008, has been organised in partnership with the British Embassy in Stockholm and will enable delegates to explore the market with like-minded businesses and receive the full support of an International Trade Adviser prior to, during and after the visit.

Companies have until the end of December to sign up for the visit. Eligible companies may also receive a financial contribution towards the costs of the visit from UK Trade & Investment.
