Seaward Group shifts production to North East

A County Durham-based company specialising in the manufacture of electrical safety test equipment is shifting production of one of its key brands to the North East. The Seaward Group is relocating Clare Instruments from Worthing in West Sussex to its larger manufacturing and head office site on the South West Industrial Estate in Peterlee.

Clare Instruments is a supplier of electrical safety testing instrumentation and systems for the manufacturing and rental sectors. The technology enables the safe and controlled testing of products within the production and laboratory environment, ensuring they pass electrical safety legislation and compliance requirements.

Full production will start on-site at Peterlee at the beginning of January 2008 once the installation of production line equipment is completed.

Next year the firm is expecting to see continued growth, particularly in overseas markets in the Far East and USA.

Rod Taylor, managing director said: “I am very excited about bringing Clare Instruments’ production here to the North East. This is an important move and will secure the long term future and development of a key part of the Group’s business. “It not only guarantees a strong start to 2008 but provides a great platform for future growth and expansion next year and beyond.”

Seaward Group produces electrical safety test products for electricians and service engineers among others under the Seaward Electronic Ltd brand.
