NEPIC signs international collaboration
North East England and the process industries received a boost last week with the signing of a collaboration agreement between the North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) and Axelera, a chemicals-environment cluster based in France.
Dr Stan Higgins, CEO of NEPIC, signed the agreement with Bruno Allenet, President of Axelera, in the presence of the UK Ambassador to France, Sir Peter Westmacott, Professor Julian Morris of Newcastle University and Peter Loftus of Renew Tees Valley.
The collaboration is intended to help boost trade opportunities and activity and together the two organisations will help companies and academics gain additional financing to support innovation and business growth projects.
NEPIC along with Lyon-based Axelera, will aim to implement technology projects, ranging from image and community involvement through to training and skills management to enterprise and expansion, as well as helping members in each cluster to establish a network within the environmental chemical sector.
Dr Higgins said: “This collaboration will help our two organisations to share best practice and forge business relationships for our members. We will be able to promote our member organisations to the French market and build innovation projects between our companies and academics that will enable us to seek further European funding as inter-country collaborations are favoured. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Axelera.”
