North East builders' merchant wins top award
The managing director of the North East’s leading independent builders’ merchants has scooped one of the country’s most prestigious industry awards.
Anne Ganley, MD of Thompson Building Centres, was named Builders’ Merchants Achiever of the Year. The award recognised the fact that Mrs Ganley has taken her company from strength to strength, despite the fact that Thompsons is working within a fiercely competitive marketplace.
“The impressive growth in the business is due to Anne’s drive, initiative and vision as well as her ability to tactically overcome obstacles,” said the judges.
Thompson’s commitment to their local community, the company’s employee share scheme and Anne’s work within the industry itself were also given as reasons why she had been the clear winner in this particular category.
The Builders’ Merchants Awards for Excellence are seen as the industry’s benchmark for quality, with more than 500 entries across its 15 categories.
“It’s always an honour to win an award and especially when it is one given out by your peers which this is,” said Anne. “I know how respected the Builders’ Merchants Awards are within the industry and it shines a spotlight on Thompsons as well as showing to our staff that their dedication and hard work has also been recognised.”
