Best new buildings in the North showcased on net
Films of the seven winning buildings and places from the Hadrian Awards 2007 have been launched on the internet, so that people can now look inside the buildings and see why they have been given the accolade of the best in the North East and Cumbria.
The three minute films, which can now be viewed at www.hadrianawards.com, have been created by local film maker Daniel Elliot. Northern Architecture, one of the organisers of the awards, were particularly happy with the films.
Kate Walter, Northern Architecture’s marketing officer, said: “The films really bring these buildings to life, and give the public an insight into why the buildings won a Hadrian Award and how they exemplify good design in their daily use. You can now have a really good look at the definitive best of building design in the North from the comfort of your desk.
“The seven winning schemes of the 2007 Hadrian Awards ooze style, thoughtfulness and a sense of purpose, all of which have been captured into these short films. Whether you love design, planning to commission a building or public space or just want to have a sneaky peak, the films are guaranteed to please.”
The award winning buildings featured in the films include Dance City in Newcastle, Darlington Education Village, Gateshead International Stadium, St Christopher’s Parish Church in Gunnerton, The Jerwood Centre in Grasmere, The Quadrus Centre in South Tyneside and Trinity Gardens in Newcastle.
