Leading healthcare figures collaborate in Newcastle
International leaders across the healthcare sector assembled in Newcastle last week as part of a strategic initiative to examine emerging issues.
The ‘Health, Wellbeing and Informed Citizen’ seminar, was hosted at the Centre for Life by Cels, the organisation tasked with driving the healthcare economy in the North East. The event saw healthcare professionals from clinical, academic, policy development, commercial and local government organisations collaborate to identify potential areas for future development in the health and wellbeing arena.
The event consisted of a day of presentations, followed by creative activities to identify key strands of activity for Cels and its partners to influence regional and national policy and the gaps where new projects can be introduced to tackle rising healthcare concerns.
Mike Asher, CEO of Cels, said: “North East England is a region that epitomises the challenges raised by health and wellbeing in the 21 century. Our local economy is changing rapidly - wealth is being generated and people are developing new aspirations and making new choices, none more so than in maintaining their health and quality of life.
“Due to the prospect of living in a society with increasing healthcare inequality we need to formulate key strategies to address these modern day challenges. To achieve this it is crucial that leading healthcare professionals collaborate to identify both the main market requirements and the technological solutions to meet them.”
A report based on the event will be published in early 2008. If you are interested in receiving this report or finding more about the initiative please contact Cels at info@celsatlife.com or 0191 211 2560.
