Green times for print firm
A Durham-based firm has been award an important eco-friendly status. HPM has become one of the first North East print services to be awarded Forest Stewardship Council Certification. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organisation attempting to find solutions that promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests.
With initiatives in over 40 countries, the FSC has certified over 84 hectares of wood in more than 82 countries in the last 12 years. The process that HPM has undergone also means that it can use the Chain of Custody certification logo as evidence that it buys products that originate from well managed forests.
Richard Mortimer, HPM’s MD said: “Care of the environment is a must for the company as the environment is becoming more and more important for us all, particularly in the printing industry. This certification gives our customers the reassurance that we are doing all we can to add our voice to the growing lobby that aims to protect the world’s resources.
“This is the first success of many new initiatives we will be seeking to follow up to reduce our own carbon footprint and to promote the fact that we are an ethical and socially responsive organisation.”
