Sparks fly to mark the launch of ChildLine Emerald Ball
People who don’t get a ticket to the 2008 ChildLine Emerald Ball should be green with envy as the dazzling green-themed event looks set to be bigger and better than ever.
The ball, which has always been a hot date in the calendar, is to take place on Friday 29 February 2008 at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton and will help support ChildLine’s free 24-hour confidential helpline for children who are in need.
A spectacular display of green fireworks were set off at the SFM offices in Team Valley by the Balls’ headline sponsors to launch the sale of the tickets last month. Tickets are expected to sell out fast as last year’s Ruby themed event attracted over 300 guests and raised over £36,000.
Launching the ChildLine Emerald Ball for the second year running was keynote sponsor Malcolm Graham, managing partner of SFM Legal and Financial Services, who is now also joined by Dave Purdie, managing partner of North East Property Buyers who has upped the stakes to ensure the event is one to remember.
Childline, a service of the NSPCC, aims to smash last year’s fundraising total and help support even more children in the North East. The event promises to be even more spectacular with nationally known entertainment acts such as MC Jon Hammond, the Dean Solomon Band and comedy performers. The Ball will also include a four course meal and champagne reception.
Dennis Clark, special events manager for the NSPCC in the North said: “The ChildLine Emerald Ball looks set to be a magical event which will raise a substantial amount of money to help support children. Every day around 2,500 children and young people call ChildLine but due to lack of funding, only half of these calls can be answered.”
Malcolm Graham of SFM said: “ChildLine is a vital service for children and young people in the North East and we are proud to be supporting this event for the second year running. As a father of two children myself I can understand the impact that the helpline can have on a child’s life so I am urging members of the public and local businesses to buy tickets and come along to the ball and have a brilliant night as well as contributing towards such a worthy cause.”
The event is taking place on Friday 29 February at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton starting at 7.00pm. Tickets are on sale now at £60 per person and tables seat either 10 or 12 people. Prize donations will be gratefully received. Please contact Dennis Clark on 01661 881466 or email dclark@nspcc.org.uk to book tickets or for further information.
