Work Wise North East celebrates birthday

Work Wise North East will be celebrating its first anniversary and showcasing the best in smarter working practices at its birthday celebration at the end of the month. The campaign to promote smarter working practices, such as flexible working, mobile working and working from home has reportedly been a great success in the North East.

Regional leaders have pledged to back the campaign for the next two years in a bid to make the North East a cutting-edge location in which to work. Employers such as Dickinson Dees, Procter & Gamble and Onyx Group are already signed up to the campaign.

Speakers at the event will include Alison Smith, consumer relations associate director at Procter and Gamble, Simon Roberson, chairman of Wise North East (and regional manager BT); David Lennan, chairman Work Wise UK and James Ramsbotham, chief executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce who has transformed working practices for his staff at the Chamber.

Simon Roberson, chairman of Work Wise North East said: “The North East was the first region to adopt this campaign a year ago and since then many organisations in the region have started to implement smarter practices such as home and remote working. These practices which are underpinned by state of the art technology make life so much easier for staff and can enable employees to strike a good work/life balance.

“The modern workplace is vastly different from what it used to be and regional companies need to be ahead of the game when it comes to providing employees with as much support and flexibility as they can.”
