Cabinet minister launches Tees Valley enterprise drive
A new initiative to inspire new Tees Valley entrepreneurs was launched by Secretary of State for Business and the Regions, Rt Hon John Hutton on Friday. Mr Hutton launched the Make Your Mark in Tees Valley campaign when he visited Middlesbrough Football Club in the Community’s Enterprise Academy.
The campaign in Tees Valley aims to inspire people in the area to be more entrepreneurial, helping to boost the region’s economy.
The Make Your Mark in Tees Valley team will work closely with the Middlesbrough FC Enterprise Academy to reach young people across the area with innovative ways to engage them in enterprising activities and show them what they can achieve by starting their own business or social enterprise.
Pamela Hargreaves, Head of Campaign for Make Your Mark in Tees Valley, said: “The launch of the Make Your Mark campaign in the Tees Valley coincides with some fantastic changes and developments. The campaign is here to inspire local people to make their ideas happen and help find the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. We work closely with a wide range of organisations and this launch helps to highlight some of the fantastic work being done in the area by many organisations such as the MFC Enterprise Academy.”
Anthony Emmerson, Manager of the Enterprise Academy, said: “Using Middlesbrough FC as a business model to engage and inspire, the Enterprise Academy has benefited more than 30,000 young people aged 11 to 19 from across the Tees Valley over the past six years.”
