New alliance for Durham Business School
A new alliance between education and business is aiming to provide improved personal development to members of Durham Business School. The School has joined forces with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to help alumni continue to develop new skills after completing their course.
Patrick Dodd, Durham Business School’s alumni relations manager, said: “Our collaboration with the Chartered Management Institute is very important to us. They have a lot to offer to our members including excellent professional support and development tools. “At the Business School we are committed to providing our graduates with lifelong learning opportunities and professional recognition which mirrors the objectives of the CMI.”
The CMI offers member benefits such as development tools and resources, publications and member only events, as well as awarding qualifications. Members of the School’s alumni association Agora are being offered a 10% membership discount to the CMI.
Roger McCartney, Regional Manager for the Chartered Management Institute said: “I’m delighted we have entered into this partnership with Durham Business School. As well as having a first class qualification, members will benefit from gaining recognition with the leading professional body for management and leadership development. “They will also have the opportunity to progress to Chartered Manager status. Today’s employers are very supportive of Chartered Manager status - it is granted only to proven performers in the workplace and will benefit them in their careers.”
Durham Business School alumni who join the CMI will have the use of online learning facilities including a personal development portfolio. To find out more about Durham Business School visit www.dur.ac.uk/dbs.
