Public to see £200m dock revamp
A £200m redevelopment of former docks on Teesside into homes, offices and leisure facilities has been unveiled. The zero-carbon regeneration project at Middlehaven in Middlesbrough could initially create 3,000 jobs with more planned in the future. The public were invited to look around the RiversideOne project on Friday. Developers said there had been “significant” buyer interest.
The revamp is being carried out by developer BioRegional Quintain on behalf of Tees Valley Regeneration.
Pete Halsall, managing director of BioRegional Quintain, said: “We think it is fantastic, we believe this project will transform Middlesbrough. We have started construction on many parts and the marketing suite is opening its doors on Friday. “It’s been 10 years of effort and is great to see it come to fruition. There should be at least 3,000 new jobs created. There has been significant buyer interest so it is looking good for the future.”
