Businesses offered Sound Solutions to communication barriers
Businesses are being offered advice on employing deaf and hard of hearing people in a new guide released this week. ‘Sound Solutions’, created by deafness and hard of hearing charity RNID, aims to help businesses access the nine million potential employees in the UK affected by hearing loss. RNID Products, the charity’s not-for-profit retail arm, is advising companies on what help and equipment they need to comply with disability law. The launch of the guide comes ahead of the British Chambers of Commerce Annual Convention next week.
Responsibility lies with the employer to improve access to their workplace or service and to open up their job opportunities to deaf or hard of hearing people. Mark Catling, Director of Business Development, RNID Products, said: “Sound Solutions is a straightforward guide for businesses wanting to make the changes needed to expand their reach and become accessible to deaf and hard of hearing customers and staff.
“Our advice and innovative products help break down barriers which stop deaf and hard of hearing people accessing services and make workplaces isolating. No longer should businesses be daunted by the prospect of making themselves accessible. Sound Solutions clearly lays out the support RNID Products can provide - advice, equipment, installation and maintenance - meaning help is at hand for the whole process.”
Businesses can contact RNID Products to get the Sound Solutions guide and for details of the equipment needed to provide support for deaf and hard of hearing people.
