North East firms offered a taste of international trade
North East firms are being offered a taste of the benefits of international trade at a special event focusing on the food and drink sector. Northumbria Larder has joined forces with UK Trade & Investment to host an event next Wednesday where delegates can find out about a leading food industry show, SIAL. SIAL is described as ‘a showcase for innovation in the food industry’, and takes place in Paris, France from 19 to 23 October.
Jeff Bean, UK Trade & Investment’s Regional Specialist International Trade Adviser for the food and drink sector, said: “SIAL attracts more than 140,000 visitors and 5,300 exhibitors every year. It is the key event for food industry professionals from food manufacturers and retailers to distributors, importers and wholesalers as well as those involved in institutional and commercial catering.
“We know the North East has a lot to offer and we’ve teamed up with Northumbria Larder to organise this event to show local companies that attending an exhibition like SIAL can do for their business.”
John Cleave, Vice Consul at the British Consulate in Lille, will be on hand to offer an introduction to SIAL, while Guy Woodall, of Thorncroft Drinks Ltd will talk about his company’s experiences in international markets. Michael McCallum, of Northumbria Larder, will discuss the North East food and drink industry.
The event at Northumbria Larder on Wednesday 7 May is free but the number of places available is limited. Email enquiries@ukti.rito.co.uk for more information.
