10,000 mile trek for free
A Sussex man has visited 26 capital cities in Europe in a six month charity tour - without spending a penny. Kris Mole, 24, made a vow to his dying aunt to rely solely on the kindness of strangers during his 9,763-mile trek to raise cash for cancer research. He scrounged lifts, went days without food and slept in the open when not offered a bed, reports The Sun.
Kris, from Southwick, whose aunt Susan died of cancer a week after he set out, said: “Thinking of her got me through the hard times. It was an experience - people were amazing.”
First stop was Stockholm in Sweden and he crossed Norway, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia with little trouble. He explained: “I could usually ride on trains for free - all I did was explain my situation.”
