North East hosts 'Live Mesh' demo

A new Microsoft product is to be demonstrated on Tyneside in May in what is likely to be the its first public demonstration in the UK. Steve Clayton, Microsoft International’s Software plus Services Lead, will demo Live Mesh - the firm’s new product which synchronises data and connects multiple devices - at the Thinking Digital conference on 21-23 May at the Sage Gateshead.

Live Mesh was originally unveiled at the Web 2.0 expo in San Francisco in April. Using the service, users will be able to ensure their ever-increasing numbers of devices (whether that may be a laptop, mobile phone, MP3 player or anything else) are kept ‘in-sync’ and up-to-date.

Live Mesh is Microsoft’s ‘software-plus-services’ platform to enable users to sync their PCs and devices so that they are up to date with everything else in an individual’s ‘device mesh’. It is expected to be a major plank in Microsoft’s future strategy.

Steve Clayton said: “I’m really excited about coming to Thinking Digital. The line-up is the best of any conference in the UK this year. I’m looking forward to being able to present these technologies - and it’s also good to be doing it outside of London.”

The Thinking Digital conference will kick off on the afternoon of 21 May with a series of workshops. The talks will begin on day two, with sessions on the future of media, the ‘network effect’, technology and even happiness. The final day will include sessions on globalisation, mobile 2.0 and management in the digital age.
