North East artists invited to enter 'The People Show'
An open art competition based in Newcastle is challenging professional and amateur artists throughout the region to ‘Make Someone a Work of Art’. The People Show competition, now in its 9th year, has been designed to foster the region’s creative talent and is open to artists based in the North East, who are invited to submit entries in any medium.
Themed ‘Make Someone a Work of Art’, this year’s People Show - in conjunction with the University Gallery at Northumbria University - encourages artists to explore how we might see people as art, be it as a watercolour, oil painting, sculpture, photograph or piece of film, the possibilities are endless.
The competition, sponsored by creative agency Cravens, gives artists the chance to win a number of prizes: £1000 goes to the overall winner and £500 to the best photography entry, with further prizes of £250 and £50 as well as a £250 student prize.
The entries will be judged by an expert panel from the world of art, industry, and communications. Selected works will be exhibited from 1 August to 12 September 2008 at the University Gallery, Northumbria University.
For further details and competition entry, go to www.cravens.co.uk/artprize to download an application form or contact the University Gallery on 0191 227 4424.
