â??The People Show' seeks artist's muse with a twist

A North East communications agency is seeking ‘real people’ of all ages to star in a publicity campaign to inspire artists across the region to enter its open art competition, The People Show. The People Show will be run by Cravens in conjunction with the University Gallery at Northumbria University. Themed ‘Make Someone a Work of Art’, it aims to encourage artists to explore how we might see people as art - be it as a watercolour, oil painting, sculpture, photograph or piece of film.

The campaign will see faces with ‘character’ appearing across posters, cards, leaflets and within regional and national media. You don’t need to be an exquisite ‘oil painting’ to enter the casting process - it’s a distinctive appearance that’s needed here.

So, if you stand out from the crowd with an interesting and unique look, you could be just the person to take part in a photo shoot with North East photographer, Alex Telfer, and to appear in a campaign to be around the North East promoting this creative competition.

If you think you’ve got a striking look capable of inspiring a masterpiece, or if you know somebody who does, submit a photo - no later than Wednesday 30 April - by email to thepeopleshow@cravens.co.uk or post it to The People Show, Cravens, 42 Leazes Park Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4PL.

The People Show exhibition will be open to the public from 1 August to 12 September 2008 at the University Gallery, Northumbria University.
