Gold for North Eastâ??s mum Olympic designs
Make-up designs inspired by the 2012 Olympics have seen a North East student grab gold in a national competition.
South Tyneside College student, Danielle Moore beat 10 other UK competitors to take the National Skills Challenge title for Media Make-Up, which took place in Peterborough this weekend.
Using body paint, shimmer dust and conventional make-up, Danielle hand painted images of the Crown Jewels, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament directly onto her model, Tamzin Cummings.
She also created a Beefeater-inspired costume for Tamzin, using entirely recycled materials and even a Union Jack brought home by her father from Afghanistan - where he was serving with Prince Harry.
Danielle’s designs bowled over the judges and they will now be used to promote the competition across Europe - they may even be used to publicise the 2012 Olympics.
Make-up lecturer, Karen Cummings said: “I’m thrilled to see her win and wish her all the luck in the world in her future career. I hope her success inspires others and shows what great things can be achieved with vocational skills.”
