TV success for North East young animators
Two talented young animators are getting their first taste of TV success, after winning a contract to produce a television advert for a North East fostering agency.
Prudhoe High School students Gary Barse and Michael Bailey have already gained recognition for their “claymation” animations after a win in the MTV Boom Academy Awards.
Their work so impressed not-for-profit fostering agency Team Fostering, which operates from Newcastle and Darlington, that they hired the teenagers to produce their latest TV commercial. The boys have produced a set of clay creatures for the project, which sees different kinds of birds finding new homes.
“When we thought about producing a TV commercial we thought we should do something really different and that would have a real impact,” said Peter Richardson of Team Fostering. “And we saw what the boys could do and were really impressed and decided to ask them to produce the ad for us.”
The teenagers were helped by multi-award winning Newcastle company, Mere Mortals to put the finishing touches on the commercial. “It was a pleasure to work with two such talented young individuals. I’ve no doubt they will go on to become very successful in their field,” said Dave McPhee, head of post-production at Mere Mortals.
