In the news: Google has been named the best place to work in the UK by The Great Place to Work Institute. The search engine giants put their success down to their excellent HR policies, one of which saw all employees receive a free bicycle last year.

Book specialists Borders is set to end its seven year affiliation with Amazon by launching its own ecommerce site, reports Marketing VOX. Amazon has managed Boarders online ordering since 2001.

Microsoft has announced that they expect a second beta version of Internet Explorer 8 to be available by October, and have developers to plan accordingly. PC Advisor reports that the announcement comes some 3 months since the release of the first beta version.

Sticking with Microsoft, and owner Bill Gates has announced that Windows 7, due for release in 2010, will contain touch screen functionality that he believes will one day replace the mouse and keyboard.

Story of the week: Reports emerged last week that video sharing site YouTube are facing a mammoth one billion dollar lawsuit after failing to keep copyrighted material off its site. Viacom claims that over 150,000 unlawful clips are currently available via the site.
