Nanomaterials conference heads to North East
Businesses from across Europe will descend on North East England next month for a major event to promote the benefits of nanomaterials. Over 400 delegates are expected to attend NanoMaterials08, which is being held at the Marriott Hotel in Gosforth on 7-9 July. The conference, organised by NanoCentral, aims to provide delegates with knowledge and contacts required to tap into the emerging and profitable nanomaterials market.
Kim Wong, One NorthEast’s Innovation Senior Specialist, who has been involved in the organising of the event, said: “Hosting an event like this, the largest of its kind in Europe, could really help cement our position within the field of nanotechnology and specifically nanomaterials.
“It presents a real opportunity for companies in the North East to learn from experts and leaders in their field from across Europe, as well as promoting their own areas of work. It’s equally a tremendous opportunity to showcase the region’s capabilities, strengths and everything it has to offer.”
NanoMaterials08 is a three-day event made up of poster sessions, workshops, exhibitions and a conference and social programme and will bring dozens of national and international companies active in the nanomaterials industry to the region.
Mr Wong said: “The development of nanotechnology will have a significant impact on the region’s economy in terms of its future growth, and there’s a real opportunity for us to establish ourselves as a leader within the field by showing our national and international counterparts the skills and strength which are readily available in the North East.”
