Students take a fashionable slant on enterprise

Students from Prior Pursglove College in Guisborough made their mark at a Fashion Show when they combined their business skills with their love of fashion to put something back into their local community.

A charity fashion show at Prior Pursglove last week raised over £1,500 for Age Concern. The students, aged between 16 and 18, showed around 25 outfits and garments to members of the public. Prior Pursglove is one of the newest Make Your Mark Enterprise Clubs set up in the North East region which encourages students to work on enterprising projects and challenges throughout the year to develop their skills. This club joins the 300 other clubs around the country already sharing ideas and networking online at www.makeyourmarkclub.org.

The clubs are one of the ways in which the Make Your Mark campaign is hoping to unlock the UK’s enterprise potential and they certainly help to stimulate young people to put their business ideas into action.

Pamela Hargreaves, Head of Campaign for Make Your Mark in the North East, said: “It’s great to see that the students at Prior Pursglove are using their business skills to support their local community, proof that making money and having a positive social impact can go hand in hand. Setting up a Make Your Mark Club is a great way to develop invaluable life skills, not only relevant for running a business, but for every area of life and it’s great to hear about young people already on their enterprise journey!”
