Aston Martin on a stamp
The Aston Martin workshop in Beamish has helped the Royal Mail to get the classic James Bond car on a stamp.
After a spit and polish job on the car, the Royal Mail spent a day at the Aston Workshop photographing the legendary Aston Martin DB5, even holding a stamp shaped cut out around the car to ensure they got exactly the right shot.
Owner of the Aston Workshop, Robert Fountain, said “This is a meeting of two symbolic British images - the classic postage stamp and the stunning Aston Martin DB5, both tell their tale of British history.
“We were more than happy to help out Royal Mail and it’s great that people recognise our work in restoring Aston Martins on a global scale. I can’t wait to see an Aston Workshop DB5 flying all around the world on people’s mail.”
The postage stamps are to be released in November 2008 and will be available from post offices across the country.
