German gossip shut up by police
(It happened in Germany, so that headline isn’t as xenophobic as it first sounds…)
A German woman phoned the police to report her friend for talking too much. Ingrid Schuettler, a 48 year-old housewife from the western city of Speyer, invited her friend to her apartment for a cup of tea and a chat. Thirty hours later, the friend was still talking, and Schuettler was forced to call the emergency services in. Police confirmed reports that the woman talked about personal problems and became drunk, refusing to leave after an afternoon and the whole of the following day talking.
Schuettler’s first call was made to the paramedics, but they were unable to assist her. A spokesperson for Speyer Police said: “After an unbelievable 30 hours and failed attempts to encourage the guest to leave last Saturday, the woman did not know what else to do but to call an ambulance.”
Mrs Schuettler’s friend will not face charges.
