North East companies travel further east
Firms in the North East are visiting Russia to explore export opportunities. UK Trade & Investment is hosting a market visit to two Russian cities, Moscow and Ekaterinburg.
The trip will take place in October, and is intended to enable companies to find out more about the Russian market and meet potential customers. An International Trade Advisor will be available to support delegates throughout the process.
UK exports to Russia were at the unprecedented level of £2.8b last year. North East exports to the country rose by 130%, meaning Russia was one of the region’s top ten investors for the first time.
The dates of the visit are 12 - 17 October 2008, and it is one of a series that UK Trade & Investment are currently running.
Jonathan Gamblin, International Trade Advisor and Country Lead for Russia, said: “Russia has a stable and rapidly expanding economy and offers plenty of opportunities for North East firms to do business. Our delegation will be visiting Moscow, which offers access to key contacts within all industry sectors, and Ekaterinburg, which has a long-established reputation for power and engineering sectors.”
