Partnership leads to blooming success

A partnership between a public and a private sector organisation has helped more than 10 Teesside people into work in the past nine weeks.

Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) and The Enterprise Team (formerly LEGI) joined forces in March to give the ambitious people of Redcar and Cleveland the best chance of succeeding in setting up in business.

One success story involves an unemployed lone parent who set up her own business as a florist. Tina Steinmetz from Redcar approached PPDG as she was keen to start her own business. Although she was out of work, she already had the appropriate training to be a florist but needed support on the business side.

Tina Flintoff, PPDG employment coach, said: “Following discussions with me and helping her with a business plan we agreed The Enterprise Team may be able to provide additional help to support her with essential business tools, such as a laptop.

“Teaming up with The Enterprise Team provides fantastic opportunities for residents within the region, with an aspiration of being his/her own boss, to be given the best possible support to ensure their business succeeds.”

Tina, whose business is called Fantastique Flowers, said: “From the moment I approached PPDG they were able to guide me in the right direction. It is daunting being a single parent and considering setting up your own business but they provided me with the confidence to accomplish my ambition.”
