Funding helps North East filmmakers and musicians
A £5,000 grant from Arts Council England North East, is giving filmmakers and musicians an opportunity to collaborate in a scheme to bring the two disciplines together.
Sound & Vision is a partnership between the region’s screen agency Northern Film and Media, Generator, the North East’s popular music development agency and Arts Council England, North East. The aim is to join filmmakers and musicians together to develop their talents to a professional level.
Fiona McKeown, Special Initiatives Officer, Arts Council England, North East said: “Sound & Vision brings together the world of film and music work to nurture talent and create short films responding to original compositions from musicians. It is a unique scheme, which aims to increase the understanding of the importance of music as a soundtrack to film, and to provide mentoring, knowledge of the film industry and ultimately distribution opportunities to talent within the region.”
Helen Ross, Production and Development Manager, Northern Film and Media said, “Support from Arts Council England, North East will help us to build upon the success of Sound & Vision 2007 and look to produce an even better scheme this year. The funds will help support local musicians and filmmakers to work with us to produce innovative and high quality pieces of work which we will then look to support regionally, nationally and internationally.”
