Laywers take hold of Vipers
One of the North East’s most famous ice hockey teams has announced that law firm Mincoffs LLP will take over as the team’s title supporter for the 2008/2009 season.
The former Mobilx Vipers will now be known as the Mincoffs Vipers for the whole of the 2008/09 season, which starts on Saturday 30 August at the Metro Radio Arena against Coventry Blaze.
A more businesslike approach has seen the club develop increasingly over the past three years, from a loss making organisation to a profit making business. The Vipers now attract fans from all over the region, from as far afield as Teesside and the Scottish Borders.
Recent new sponsors also include The Hilton Hotel, Newcastle Building Society, The Environment Agency and The Journal.
Mincoffs Vipers’ director Paul Ferone said: “The past few years have seen the Vipers do a lot of great work both on and off the ice. We have spent a huge amount of effort and enthusiasm working on the establishment of our official charity Vipers Community Foundation, which has worked with over 25,000 children across the region since its launch in 2006, using players as role models within schools to deliver messages on healthy living and to promote physical activity through ball hockey.
“We are very pleased that Mincoffs is supporting us as our title supporter this season and we hope to achieve some great results for them.”
Partner at Mincoffs Phil Dean said: “This is the first time we have officially supported a North East sport team and I am very excited about the prospects of being involved with the success of the Vipers in the forthcoming season.
“We are proud to be giving our full support to such a successful North East team, and although they will be up against some fierce competition, we have every confidence that we will see them achieve even greater glory on the ice this season.”
