Double success for young business

A fledgling company has scored a major coup with an awards night double. Financial specialists Moneygate not only picked up the Most Promising New Business at the South Tyneside Enterprise Partnership (STEP) awards, it scooped the jackpot with the Business of the Year Award too.

Moneygate, which is based at Boldon Business Park, has been operating for just over two years. The company employs 34 people and is owned by four shareholders, including Sales Director Dennis Reed.

Mr Reed said: “We thought it was brilliant to get the Most Promising New Business Award let alone Business of the Year. We have only just started compared to some of the businesses that were in the frame, in fact one has been up and running for over 100 years.

“During an economic downturn it is all about positioning yourself in the market. We see how we can save our customers money which is at the top of their agenda at the moment.”

STEP chairman Geoff Ford said: “Moneygate may be a new company but it has made rapid progress and has outstanding credentials. They have created a number of new jobs in the area with plans to continue to grow.

“The standards were extremely high and it was the hardest year yet for the judging panel. “Business support in South Tyneside is first class and we have watched new and established companies grow as a result of this.”
