Newcastle benefits from super-fast communications
ntl:Telewest Business, part of the Virgin Media Group, recently announced the imminent completion of upgrades to its network in Newcastle to provide next generation services to local businesses. The new network comprises of 160 fibre pairs added to key hubs in and around the city of Newcastle.
The upgrades, valued at £400,000, are part of nationwide enhancements to the ntl:Telewest Business next generation communications network.
Alan Worthing from ntl:Telewest Business in the North East, said: “This upgrade responds to demands for faster, better quality communications services now, not in years to come. The network features separate maintenance chambers that meet our commitment to business resilience, and our reach extends beyond the core backbone to the last mile, with fibre optic links in every street.
“We are experiencing a huge increase in demand for these more flexible next generation services and already have businesses waiting to take advantage of this increased capacity. Our biggest customer in the area, Newcastle City Council, advised us on their needs from the outset and we collaborated accordingly, working closely together to ensure we met their requirements.”
