North East engineering firm set the standard

A Tyneside equipment supplier is celebrating after winning the Federation of Small Businesses’ 2008 British Small Business Champion Award for the North of England.

Lift-rite Engineering Services, based in Wallsend, fought off competition from five other businesses located in the North of England.

Lift-rite, launched in 2003, are providers of lifting equipment solutions, height safety systems and on-site engineering services to companies within the oil and gas, ship repair, petrochemical, utilities, construction and general engineering sectors.

The awards were showcased in front of hundreds of members of the business community at a ceremony in Liverpool, and as winners, Lift-rite will go on to represent the northern area at the National Final to be held in Claridges Hotel, London in November.

Colin Stratton, FSB Regional Chairman for the North East of England, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and highlights once again the outstanding contribution that small businesses bring to the region. The North East continues to develop and small businesses are now gaining the recognition their endeavours deserve. I wish to pass on my congratulations to Lift-rite and wish them all the very best for the final and the future.”

Graeme Robson, Joint Managing Director of Lift-rite said: “We are extremely proud to be recognised with this award, which shows the progress Lift-rite has made over the last five years to become a leading service provider to clients. This provision is not confined within our northern area; the rapid growth of our company means we are now providing equipment and engineering services worldwide.”
