Businesses invited for a Taste of Africa

Businesses and organisations across the North East are being invited to take part in this year’s Taste of Africa festival on Teesside.

Over 4000 people took part in activities all over the Tees Valley in last year’s event, and organisers are hoping to attract at least another 1000 to this year’s festival.

The non-profit making event, which is organised by Sade Sangowawa- a cultural trainer from events training organisation Cultures, will take place throughout October to coincide with Black History Month.

An awards dinner will be held on 10 October to recognise organisations and individuals who have helped to celebrate cultural diversity in the Tees Valley. Sponsors already signed up for the awards include the Learning and Skills Council, North Tees Primary Care Trust, and Equality North East.

Sade Sangowawa said: “Last year we received a lot of interest from businesses and organisations wanting to become involved in A Taste of Africa in some way so this year we have increased the number of opportunities available.

“Companies can support the event in many ways ranging from sponsorship of individual awards to having their own business stand at our main event in Middlesbrough Town Hall. And for the first time, this year we can match fund all sponsorship to increase opportunities for everyone involved. So this is a great chance for people to become associated with one of the major multi-cultural events to take place in the Tees Valley.”

Organisers are currently inviting businesses and organisations to become sponsors of Taste of Africa. Email info@culturescic.co.uk or visit www.tasteofafrica.org for more information.
