North East energy goes to South Africa
A North East-based business development organisation for UK oil, gas and energy-related sectors, NOF Energy, has signed a Global Partner Agreement with the South Africa Oil & Gas Alliance (SAOGA).
SAOGA is the umbrella body for South African suppliers, service providers and international partners working in the Exploration and Production sectors of the oil and gas industry. The two organisations reached the agreement following an initial meeting in Houston during the Offshore Technology Conference and Exhibition in May.
SAOGA recently visited the North East to meet with NOF Energy members in the technical training sector as part of SAOGA’s focus on education and skills. Washington-based NOF Energy may also consider a market visit to South Africa accompanied by member companies who could benefit from working with SAOGA and its members.
Established to promote and develop the Western Cape of South Africa, the Alliance occupies a strategic geographic position relative to West Africa and is focused on marketing its members principally to the offshore oil and gas market in that area of the continent.
Joanne Leng, Director Business Development at NOF Energy, said: “I first met SAOGA representatives at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston in May 2008. It was obvious there were synergies between the two organisations. They have similar objectives to support supply chains in their country and encourage members to trade internationally.”
