Local PR practitioners shortlisted for industry awards

The North East finalists for the 2008 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards have been announced.

This year the PRide Awards nationally received a record 1568 entries, an increase of 7% on last year. Of these, 160 were from the North East, which itself received 53 more entries than in 2007.

The winners for the North East PRide Awards will be announced at a special presentation dinner at the NewcastleGateshead Hilton Hotel on Friday 14 November. Following the North East PRide event, all the gold award winners will be put forward for the national final, at which the pick of the crop will receive a prestigious Grand Prix Award.

PRide Award categories include best use of media relations, best use of photography & design, best public sector campaign and best low budget campaign, among many others.

Sarah Hall, regional chair for the CIPR North East, said: “The number and standard of PRide Awards entries received year-on-year never disappoints. To come out on top, this year’s entrants have faced the toughest competition to date as well as a rigorous judging process. To reach this stage they have demonstrated the invaluable contribution their work makes to business and society - something of which they should be proud.”
