Search for North East â??Property Oscar' winners
A new search is about to begin for the best property projects in the North East as the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) opens nominations for its Renaissance Awards 2009.
The awards trail will officially kick off at the winner of last year’s top award, Northumbria University’s City Campus East building, on Tuesday 2 September.
The university’s Director of Estates, Trevor Thurlow, said: “It was a great honour for everyone involved in the development of City Campus East to have their skills recognised with the RICS North East Project of the Year Award earlier this year.
“City Campus East is an iconic development that has raised the bar in terms of outstanding design, innovation and sustainability. Our development is a tough act to follow so I’m looking forward to seeing the entries for next year’s award.’’
Considered the region’s ‘Property Oscars’, the RICS North East Renaissance Awards showcase the achievements of professionals working in built and natural environments.
RICS Regional Chairman Michael Henning, a North East-based chartered surveyor with Summers Inman, said: “We always attract entries from talented property developers, civil engineers, planners, architects and, of course, surveyors who want to promote their high profile projects and clients.
“The North East is bursting at the seams with creative and construction industry talent and I can’t wait to see the entries - and the very best that this region has to offer.”
The RICS North East Renaissance Awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Friday, 24 April, 2009, at Newcastle’s Civic Centre. For further information on the RICS North East Renaissance Awards, contact RICS Events Coordinator Sue Doberman at sdoberman@rics.org.
