Sunderland in Europe: 38,000 euros
Excitement is gripping the Department of Culture at the recent news that they have been awarded 38,000 euros of Grundvig funding for 3 European projects. The projects, designed by Jenny Hayes, will enhance the reputation of Sunderland in Europe and its life changing opportunities and will complement the language classes offered by the department.
The project will enable us to target more European markets, open up further opportunities for Action Research, enable teaching staff to explore new innovative ways to introduce e-learning into the classroom and new ways of teaching in partnership with educational establishments in Norway, Italy and Spain.
The first event in a Study visit from 16 European teaching professionals in the week starting September 22nd. The title of the event is ‘Language Teaching in the Digital Age’ and it is a wonderful opportunity for us all to strengthen our links with European colleagues.
During the week, the participants will be learning about our state of the art language laboratory in Forster building, visiting local schools to see the innovative language projects they are carrying out and also visiting DFDS to see how teachers are creating teaching material from authentic situations.
Many colleagues have already expressed an interest in participating so if you would like to attend any of the following events, please contact me by email before 8 th September to reserve a place. Jenny.hayes@sunderland.ac.uk
