National work experience awards want SMEs
Small and medium enterprises throughout the UK are being invited to enter their work placement schemes into a national awards process.
The National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Awards recognise SME employers providing undergraduate work experience. Employers, students and careers advisers can nominate SMEs that they feel epitomise best practice in work experience.
This year’s awards feature two categories dedicated to SMEs (under 10 employees and 10-250 employees) as well as a category for those who started new placement schemes within the last two years.
Martin Leyland, Shetland Seafood Auctions Manager, winner of the under 10 employees category and overall NCWE award 2008, said: “We are extremely proud of our award and it has certainly given us a high profile, not only with students and placement organisations, but also within our own industry.”
Heather Collier, NCWE Director said: “We have recently refined the nomination process to make it much simpler and quicker for people to enter. Removing the requirement to provide supporting literature now allows the whole process to be completed online. Every year our awards grow and we hope this year’s will be our biggest and best yet.”
The Awards are open to organisations of all sizes. This year there is also an additional category - best work experience provider for International Students Studying in the UK.
The closing date for entries is 12 December 2008. For further information and to enter visit www.work-experience.org/awards.
