Airline moves to help North East travellers
The flyglobespan airline has said that it will step in to assist holiday firm Thomas Cook this winter by providing flights for passengers scheduled to fly with recent airline casualty, Futura Airways.
Thousands of Thomas Cook’s passengers were affected when the Spanish airline went into administration last week. However flyglobespan, which has reported ‘record’ load factors over the summer, said itwould offer some support.
Flyglobespan will be chartering flights on behalf of Thomas Cook from Aberdeen to Tenerife throughout the winter, and from Durham Tees Valley airport to Mahon (Menorca) and Palma (Mallorca) on various dates in September and October.
Rick Green, CEO of flyglobesan, said: “We already enjoy a strong relationship with Thomas Cook and were very pleased that we could step in and develop this further to help these passengers, who otherwise could have found themselves stranded or had their holidays cancelled.
“I think it is imperative at a time like this that the industry pulls together to support one another and we are pleased to have been able to assist”.
