Toon firms get Fresh
The North East creative industry was celebrating last week after two firms brought back seven accolades from an awards ceremony in Manchester.
Newcastle firms Different and Cravens both attended the Fresh Awards, held at the Imperial War Museum, Salford Quays on 25 September. Different was awarded two golds and two bronzes for several of their projects for regional organisations. Cravens took away one gold and two silvers, all for their work with the ‘People Show’ campaign.
Cathy Atkinson, Client Services Director at Cravens said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised for our creative work at the national Fresh awards. Our People Show campaigns have received a number of accolades since the inaugural exhibition nine years ago, which is testament to the talent of the creative team here at Cravens.
“The People Show is something that we are incredibly proud of, as it gives established and up and coming artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work. All the people featured within the photography are from the region, making the whole campaign a true celebration of North East life and culture.”
Different’s TV campaign for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service was awarded gold in both the Best TV Commercial and Best Commercial Under £20,000 categories. They followed this up with two bronze gongs - the Outdoor Poster category, again for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, and the ‘Ambient Execution’ category, which recognises non-standard work such as advertisements on grocery receipts, in toilet cubicles or within artwork, for an NHS campaign.
Chris Rickaby, a director at Different, said: “This year’s awards attracted a record number of entries so we are incredibly proud of our team’s achievements. “The campaigns which picked up the awards were hard-hitting and very well received by the organisations involved but, above all, created a real impact with measurable results.”
The Fresh Awards have been running for five years and are highly regarded in the industry for recognising outstanding creativity for companies based outside of London. This year over 200 companies from across the UK entered the awards.
