Driving ambition
After 20 years of collecting cooking pots, bicycles and steel, two brothers finally have finally put the finishing touches to their homemade ‘Formula One’ racing car.
Made from bits and pieces found on and around the family farm, the red pride and joy, nicknamed ‘Brother’ was unveiled at an Auto fair in Tangshan, China.
Not only does the finished product actually look like a car but it has a top speed of 100mph, the brothers insist.
The pair built the vehicle as a tribute to their late father, a truck driver who died in an earthquake 32 years ago who used to say: “It’s no big deal to drive, but it’s quite something to build a car.”
“All our knowledge about making a F1 racing car is from magazines and books,” said Zhao Shunxiu. “It would be wonderful if our father could see this car.”
