Hot jobs at WoodHeating Company

Despite predictions of a long cold winter of rising prices and economic gloom, the heat is so full on for one North East company, they’re having difficulty recruiting staff to cope with demand.

The WoodHeating Company in Cramlington, which supplies and installs wood burning stoves and central heating boilers, has been deluged with orders from all over the North East for months and is now urgently trying to find the right people to fulfil demand and keep customers warm this winter.

Managing director Mike Blakeley said: “I’ve been in the wood heating business for over 20 years but I’ve never known anything like this for volume of enquiries. The high price of gas and oil, as well the proven environmental qualities and low cost of wood heating have combined to make it the optimum heating system. This situation is great for our business, especially in these troubled times, but to meet demand, I urgently need good quality, enthusiastic people to come forward. We’re looking for a projects manager, a surveyor/estimator and internal sales people and will offer a competitive package to the right candidates. Despite advertising these positions prominently, we still haven’t found the people we need, which is surprising, given the economic climate.”

To date, The WoodHeating Company has generated 80% of its business from recommendation alone and Mike is adamant that the people he employs should continue the company’s exceptionally high standards of service to customers: “From a small, smoke control stove in Jesmond to a full wood central heating boiler in Longframlington, we provide a 10-year warranty on every product we install, and despite the fact that we are so busy, that calibre of service to customers will always remain. It’s just finding good staff with the relevant experience who can also reflect a similar commitment and pride in their work that seems to be proving difficult at the moment.”
