Firm creates jobs to offer jobs
A successful regional employment website has re-launched this week and created new jobs in the process.
Digital recruitment specialists Pearsons has boosted its workforce with a team of full-time staff to maintain and develop its transformed website www.sector1.net, which has become a three-way employment, careers and training website.
The new site provides users of www.sector1.net with technology that gives jobseekers features such as receiving job alerts to their mobile phones.
They can also search for jobs whilst on the move by visiting mobile.sector1.net on their mobile phones or other hand held devices.
Pearsons has invested heavily in the development of the new site, creating five new, full-time jobs at Pearsons’ Newcastle office in the process.
Sector1.net has already amassed an army of followers, with 74,000 job seekers using the site every week and over 2.7 million page views each month.
Lilian Hughes, Pearsons managing director said: “Sector1 has been around for more than eight years and has been one the region’s real success stories, creating jobs and bringing jobseekers and employers together. It has become a strong brand in the recruitment market place and the recent investment has enabled us to produce a new site featuring ground-breaking technology that has not been seen before on jobs boards.”
Additional elements of the revised sector1.net are aimed at injecting a fun factor into the job-search process as well as encouraging participants to use the site more interactively. Blogs, viral games and prizes are all designed to help create a more community-like feel.
Mrs Hughes said: “There is a special focus on industry sectors to better streamline jobseekers towards the right vacancies which will appeal to employers who will be looking for genuine candidates with the relevant skills and qualifications.”
