Make-up firm wants man to model

A North East online retailer has launched a national competition to find a model for their men’s make-up website.

www.astonmitchell.co.uk sells men’s cosmetics and skincare, but there is a distinct lack of photography showing men actually wearing it.

“Even the manufacturers don’t supply particularly good photos,” said Marketing Director Claire Mitchell, “and we need to show what our products can do. “We know that lots of men would never consider wearing make-up, our own husbands included, but we know that there are loads of blokes out there who do, and regularly.

“Whether it’s a dab of concealer to hide a spot or a shaving nick, some fake tan or even a dusting of face powder, lots of men borrow cosmetics from their girlfriend or wife - although I’m not sure how many would admit to it.”

The company is looking for a man to become the face of astonmitchell for 2009 and model the various ranges on their website - the winner will also win a complete set of make-up and skincare for men.

Guys are invited to send in before and after photos, showing how much better they look in make-up. Operations Director Kate Jones said: “We’re not necessarily looking for men trying to emulate the Russell Brand look, with lots of make-up; we just want them to show that they understand what make-up can do for them and that they can use it as part of their grooming routine.

“We’re expecting a huge range of photos, and I’m sure not all of them will be serious, but we will be looking for the person who we think has made the best use of make up to improve their looks.”
