Secret Millionaire to address North East
A star of the TV show ‘The Secret Millionaire’ is to reveal the key to her business success at a North East conference.
Hilary Devey, the founder of a £100m haulage empire, will address the Entrepreneurs’ Forum’s ‘Peaks and Pitfalls’ event for small and medium-sized businesses.
The conference takes place on Thursday, November 6, at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton Hotel. Gü Chocolate Puds founder James Averdieck had already been confirmed as a guest speaker.
The programme saw her go undercover in a run-down area of Rochdale, working as a barmaid and identifying worthy causes in the community, before sharing £170,000 of her own money amongst them.
Hilary is the founder of the hugely successful road haulage company Pall-Ex, which has a 100-strong membership of haulier companies. Prior to launching her own enterprise, Hilary gained a wealth of experience in the distribution sector, working at Littlewoods, Tibbett and Britten, and Scorpio. She then spent seven years in the retail distribution sector at TNT, before leaving to set up her own business.
The Peaks and Pitfalls conference will focus on several key issues, such as raising finance, business planning, growth strategies, sales and marketing, and leadership.
Carole Beverley, chief executive of the forum, said: “We’re thrilled that such an inspirational and charismatic business leader as Hilary will be addressing the conference.
“From humble beginnings, she has gone on to become one of the most influential figures in the transport and logistics sector, as well as a real role model for women operating in traditionally male-dominated environments. I’m sure her own story and the advice she can give to both established and aspiring entrepreneurs in the North-East will be tremendously beneficial.”
