National award for Durham Police trainers

A County Durham training company has been celebrating recently after winning a national award for its work with a local police department.

Communicators Training Associates Ltd, based in Aycliffe Industrial Estate in County Durham, won the learndirect Working with Employers Award for their work with staff at Durham Police.

Communicators Training Associates Ltd received the award for the introduction, development and provision of training for employers in the County Durham area. The centre has introduced learning assessments for new police officers with Durham Police as well as a range of other measures.

On receiving their award, Kate McLean, from Communicators Training Associates Ltd. said: “It’s great to build up a relationship with an employer and see their staff develop, from doing Skills for Life qualifications right up to NVQs. You have to invest in people and being able to provide for employees’ futures as well as employer’s futures is one of the great benefits of learndirect.”

TV presenters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford, who hosted the Achievement Awards national ceremony at The Science Museum in London, said: “We are both delighted to support the learndirect Achievement Awards. We have worked with learndirect in the past to highlight the benefits of learning and so have seen the positive impact that learning can have on adults around the country. It is wonderful to join learndirect in celebrating those individuals and businesses who are using e-learning to train and improve their skills.”
