Student wrecked Mini in Italian Job stunt
A Bristol student was arrested after wrecking his Mini in a drunken attempt to recreate a scene from The Italian Job. The former Harrow schoolboy spent a night in jail after driving his new £10,000 car down a flight of steps, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The car - given to him just the day before by his parents - crashed, causing the radiator to blow up, the two front tyres to burst and both airbags to explode. Six security staff, two police cars and a helicopter were sent to arrest the 18-year-old for drink-driving at 1am.
The driver was charged with drink-driving. He has only been at the university a month and faces being sent down. A police spokesman said: “He tried to recreate the Italian Job - but in the film they don’t get caught.”
