Exporting to beat the credit crunch

North East firms are being offered the chance to find out how exporting can help beat the credit crunch at a special series of free seminars organised by UK Trade & Investment.

‘Look outside the bubble to beat the credit crunch’ is a mini-roadshow of events taking place at various venues across the south of the region during November and December.

Jonathan Gamblin, one of UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Advisers said: “The credit crunch is something that affects us all - both individuals and businesses. While it may mean we have to tighten our belts, it should not deter companies from exploring overseas opportunities.

“By broadening their horizons companies can benefit not just from bringing in new business but it also spreading the risks.”

The free seminars offer a chance to find out about the benefits of international trade and the support available through UK Trade & Investment and its partners.

Jonathan said: “There will also be representatives from companies who have already made the move into overseas markets. They will be on hand to discuss their own experiences and offer some advice on how to access a new market.”

The seminars will be held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 18 November - Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle - 10.30am-1.15pm; with International Trade Adviser Geoff Charlesworth.
  • Tuesday, 25 November - Gisborough Hall, Guisborough - 10.30am-1.15pm; with International Trade Adviser Keith Stockdale.
  • Tuesday, 2 December - Belasis Business Centre, Billingham - 8am-10.30am; with International Trade Adviser Jonathan Gamblin.

Following each of the seminars there will be an opportunity for one-to-one sessions with the International Trade Advisers to allow delegates to discuss their own business potential.
